Brought in my Seiko 5 for a battery swap and asked whether the gasket was still holding up. The technician opened it, took a photograph, and sent it to me the same evening — explained what she saw, said the gasket was soft but still functional, and noted the crown was slightly loose. I hadn't even mentioned that. Good job, done calmly.

The overhaul took about three weeks which I thought was quite reasonable. What I appreciated was the call midway — they found the mainspring was wearing on one edge and wanted to replace it before continuing. They quoted the part cost and waited for my go-ahead. The timing result at the end was solid. Wouldn't hesitate to bring the next one here.

Mechanical Overhaul — April 2025

Brought in a bracelet I received as a gift — the watch was on it but the clasp was too wide for my wrist. They removed two links, aligned the end-links which were a bit loose, and gave it a very light brushing on the scratched side only. The polished section they left alone. Nice to deal with people who read the piece before touching it.

Bracelet Re-Sizing — May 2025

I was nervous about leaving an older piece — it belonged to my father and had some sentimental value. I asked a lot of questions before agreeing to the overhaul and they answered all of them patiently. The written summary they gave when I collected it was detailed and included the timing result. The watch is running well two months on.

Mechanical Overhaul — March 2025

Came in for a battery. The price is a bit higher than a mall kiosk, but the difference is in what they actually check while the case is open. I got a short written note saying the gasket was recently replaced and still in good order, and they noticed the crown threading looked fine. That kind of detail matters if you're wearing the watch near water. Will come back.

I had a vintage bracelet re-sized here and was genuinely impressed. They asked me about the finish before doing anything — whether I wanted the links left as-is or lightly refreshed. I said lightly. The result is that it looks like a well-kept bracelet, not a brand new one. The before-and-after note they provided was a nice touch. Proper place.

Bracelet Refinishing — May 2025

Three pieces, three different journeys.

Case Study 01 — Mechanical Overhaul

A collector piece brought in after eight years without service.

Challenge

The owner had a manual-wind watch that had been running slightly but inconsistently. It had not been serviced in eight years and the owner was unsure whether it was worth the cost of a full overhaul.

Solution

At drop-off, the lead watchmaker gave an honest assessment — the movement was dirty but complete, with no obvious damage. A full overhaul was agreed. Midway through, a worn pivot jewel was found and the owner was notified before sourcing a replacement.

Result

The watch was returned running at +5 seconds per day — within acceptable range for its age. The job record documented the worn jewel, the replacement source, and the regulation result. The owner has now budgeted for a follow-up visit in four years.

"I came in not knowing whether to bother — they helped me understand what the watch needed and let me decide at each step."

Case Study 02 — Bracelet Re-Sizing & Refinishing

An inherited watch on a bracelet too wide for the recipient's wrist.

Challenge

A watch inherited from a relative arrived on an integrated bracelet. The recipient's wrist was significantly narrower and the bracelet had surface scratches from years of daily wear. The owner wanted to wear it but did not want it to look obviously altered.

Solution

Three links were removed, end-links were realigned, and a selective light brushing was applied only to areas where deep scratches broke the finish. The polished centre links were untouched. The work followed the original surface intent throughout.

Result

The owner collected a bracelet that fit correctly and looked refreshed without looking new. The before-and-after note described exactly which areas were treated and which were left, providing a reference for future visits.

"They asked what I wanted before touching anything. The result looked right — not like it had been over-polished."
