Six things that matter at the bench.

Written job records

Every service produces a written summary. What was found, what was replaced, what to keep in mind next time — it goes with the watch.

Fixed, visible pricing

Service prices are published and fixed. Additional costs only arise for parts, and those are shared with you before anything is ordered.

Photographs on request

For overhauls and seal work, we can send photographs of key stages directly to the owner. A useful record for collectors or insurance purposes.

Ultrasonic cleaning

Movement components are cleaned ultrasonically, not by hand. This removes old oils more thoroughly and avoids the risk of inadvertent surface contact.

Owner consent at every step

No component is ordered or fitted without your agreement. For overhauls, work can be paused at any point if you need time to consider a parts recommendation.

Finish direction respected

Bracelet refinishing follows the original surface treatment. Brushed stays brushed; polished stays polished. We aim to refresh, not to erase character.

What each benefit means in practice.

Bench experience, not counter service.

The difference between a workshop and a retail counter battery swap is significant. A trained watchmaker opening a case back will check the gasket condition, look at the crown and threads, and note anything the owner should know. A counter service will typically do none of this.

At Pendulax, all work is carried out by or under the supervision of the lead watchmaker. Overhauls are not outsourced — the movement stays in-house and the person working on it is the same person who documents it.

  • Lead watchmaker handles all overhauls in-house
  • Gasket and crown condition checked during every case opening
  • Movement not sent to a third party without owner agreement
  • Experience with both quartz and mechanical movements

Ultrasonic cleaning as the standard, not an upgrade.

Many workshop overhauls still rely on manual cleaning of components. Ultrasonic cleaning, where parts are immersed in a solution and vibrated at high frequency, is more thorough and more consistent. It reaches areas a brush or cloth cannot.

At Pendulax, ultrasonic cleaning is part of every mechanical overhaul — not an option that adds to the price. The equipment is calibrated and used within the appropriate parameters for delicate watch parts.

  • Included in the overhaul price — not an extra
  • Thorough removal of old lubricants from all components
  • Appropriate solution concentration for watch-grade parts
  • Followed by inspection before reassembly

You stay informed. Always.

One of the most common frustrations with repair services is the silence — a piece dropped off and then no word until it is ready, or until a call arrives about an unexpected cost. Pendulax operates differently: updates are shared when there is something to share, and nothing unexpected is acted on without a conversation first.

For owners who want more, photographs of specific stages can be sent by email on request.

  • Unexpected findings shared before any action taken
  • Photo documentation available by request
  • Written summary provided at collection
  • Follow-up questions welcome after collection

What the price includes, and what it does not.

Each service has a fixed base price in Malaysian Ringgit. For battery and seal work, that price covers the full visit. For bracelet refinishing, it covers all adjustment and surface work. For overhauls, it covers labour, cleaning, and standard consumables — with parts cost listed separately only when they arise.

There are no callout fees, no assessment fees, and no charges for giving an initial opinion on a piece before a service is agreed.

  • RM 510 — Battery and seal (all-inclusive)
  • RM 660 — Bracelet resize and refinish
  • RM 4,450 — Full overhaul (labour + cleaning)
  • No assessment fee for an initial conversation

A watch returned in better condition, with documentation to match.

The measure of a good repair is not just that the watch works when it leaves the bench. It is that the owner understands what was done and has a record they can refer to at the next service — or when considering a sale or insurance valuation.

Every piece collected from Pendulax comes with a written summary. For overhauls, that summary describes the movement's condition before and after, notes what was replaced, and records the timing result from regulation.

  • Written summary at collection for every job
  • Timing result documented post-regulation
  • Parts replaced and sourcing noted in record
  • Useful for insurance or resale documentation

Distinctive features of the Pendulax approach.

The pause-and-confirm model

For overhaul work, the job does not continue past any point requiring parts expenditure until the owner confirms. This is not standard practice in most repair contexts, but it is standard at Pendulax.

Condition record for the long term

The written summary that accompanies each job becomes a record of the watch's service history. For collectors, this kind of documentation adds to the piece's story and can support its value at resale.

Finish work that reads the original

Bracelet refinishing at Pendulax begins with reading the original surface — the direction of brushing, the extent of any polished zones, and the finish on end links. The aim is coherence with the manufacturer's intent, not a generic shine.
